Q: What can be done at a housecall?
A: Almost everything typically done at an outpatient visit to an animal hospital can be done in your home. Dr. Bryant carries with her a wide array of equipment and supplies to ensure that full services can be provided.
Q: Where in my home is the visit conducted?
A: The housecall can take place anywhere you and your pet are comfortable. It is a good idea to keep nervous cats confined to a small room or bathroom, and to prevent them from hiding under furniture.
Q: How are appointments scheduled?
A: You can schedule an appointment by calling 608.335.5777. You will receive a specific appointment time the same way you would at a hospital. Of course, unlike at a hospital, unexpected traffic or road conditions may affect the exact time of Dr. Bryant’s arrival, but most appointments begin within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. Dr. Bryant will call if she expects to be more than 15 minutes late. If you expect to be home anyway and can accommodate a flexible appointment window, please let us know when you schedule the appointment. This makes it easier for us to coordinate your appointment with other nearby visits. We will call in advance of the appointment day to let you know the exact time of your appointment.
Q: What if my pet needs medications?
A: Dr. Bryant carries many commonly used medications that can be dispensed on the spot as needed. Other medications, veterinary products, and therapeutic diets can be delivered to your door through our prescription service.
Q: What if I have an emergency or urgent medical need?
A: To Your Door Veterinary can handle many of your urgent care needs. For non-critical emergencies, feel free to call us as our phone messages are checked frequently during regular business hours Monday through Friday , and we may be able to schedule a same-day appointment if appropriate. After your pet has been treated at one of these hospitals, please let us know so we can coordinate this treatment with your pet’s ongoing care.
Q: Is a housecall service expensive?
A: Generally speaking, fees for veterinary services are similar to those at other hospitals. In addition, a standard housecall fee is charged to cover the costs associated with the additional time and transportation expenses unique to a housecall service. However, you and your pet receive more personalized care on a housecall because the veterinarian generally spends more time with you than at a typical hospital appointment. The housecall fee is only charged once per visit regardless of how many pets are seen.
Q: What are my payment options?
A: At this time we accept cash and checks only. We will consider accepting credit and debit cards in the future. Fees are due at the time services are rendered. We can provide a written estimate upon request.
Q: How are surgeries, dentals, radiographs, and more specialized care provided?
A: On occasion, your pet may need surgical or more specialized care that cannot be provided in your own home. In these cases, Dr. Bryant will either provide the care herself at a partner veterinary clinic or will refer to a specialists as needed.. She will coordinate your pet’s care with these specialists to ensure you continue to receive the same level of personal attention you receive directly from Dr. Bryant.
